Climate Panel OKs Minutes, Reviews Grant Delays

Climate Change Committee · Meeting of September 10, 2026

HADLEY — The Hadley Climate Change Committee spent most of its September 10 meeting untangling paperwork snags holding up closeout of the town's Green Communities designation grant. Grant administrator Mimi, of the Pioneer Valley Planning Commission, told members the next competitive grant round would not open until April, with materials due by February 12. Members said vendor AEG's representative, Kyle, delayed an air-sealing project at Hopkins Academy for more than a year by failing to file required paperwork; AEG agreed to cover an $850 incentive shortfall.

One member said she had "talked to Nick about removing them from the preferred vendor list." The Massachusetts Department of Energy Resources' Caitlin Hart has taken over final grant approvals from a predecessor identified only as Jane, with Zach Jenkins now the agency's Western Mass regional coordinator. The committee also discussed a tentative October 31 date for Household Hazardous Waste Day and approved its July minutes unanimously.
