Community Preservation Committee · Meeting of September 14, 2026
Hadley's Community Preservation Committee voted down $700,000 in funding for an affordable-housing project while advancing $251,500 for other town meeting warrant articles. The panel rejected the Parmar and Sons request 7-0 with one abstention after member Amy Fyden read concerns from Shelly Guhring of the Massachusetts Housing Partnership, including that only 14 percent of the planned 50 units would be affordable, short of the town's 15 percent target. Member Ray Mieczkowski said the application "just feels like it's flawed in many ways." The committee separately approved $40,000 for cemetery records digitization, $181,500 for engineering work on a Middle and East Street multi-use path, and $30,000 to update the town's open space plan, all 7-0 or 8-0.
Town Administrator Nate Malloy said the path project could unlock up to $1 million in future Complete Streets construction funds. The three approved items head to Hadley's October 22 fall town meeting.
