HADLEY — The Hadley Parks and Recreation Committee debated tightening its youth sports playing-time policy but took no vote, instead asking a member to draft language for a future meeting. Committee member Karina argued the handbook's "goal" of equal playing time leaves families without recourse, saying "the clearer our processes and like our policies, the easier it is to just like stand on them." Longtime coach and committee member Jim countered that coaches need discretion, warning that mandating playing time could force the committee to remove volunteer coaches who can't meet it. Staff member Amy reported fall soccer registration is on pace and said a summer taekwondo pilot has drawn six families under 17-year-old instructor Emma.
The committee also finalized a three-Wednesday movie series in August with Bank ESB at Hadley Elementary School and set its next meeting for August 17.
