HADLEY — April 8, 2025 — Hadley Capital Planning Committee defers DPW building vote while awaiting firm cost estimate. James Maximoski, chair of the DPW Building Committee, told the committee at its April 8 meeting that the Select Board has endorsed a scaled-back facility featuring two storage bays, one maintenance bay, and a drive-through wash bay, carrying a preliminary estimate of $13 million to $14 million — down from a full-facility proposal of $19.65 million and an even earlier ballpark of roughly $30 million. Maximoski cautioned that the architect may have double-counted approximately $2.4 million in soft costs across the revised options, meaning the final figure could shift by up to $2 million. On a 30-year bond at 4 percent, the endorsed option would add roughly $300 to $400 annually to the average homeowner's tax bill. Capital Planning took no formal appropriation vote, instead agreeing to convene a joint session with the Select Board and Finance Committee on April 16 to align all three bodies on project timing and dollar amount before any warrant article is finalized.
