Hadley Cultural Council Sorts 46 Grant Applications, Leaves 30 in Contention

HADLEY — November 4, 2025 — Hadley Cultural Council begins sorting 46 grant applications against a $5,700 budget, with final awards due January 16. Meeting on November 4, the six-member council worked through all 46 proposals in a first-pass review, landing roughly 30 in the yes or maybe category — a group that, if fully funded, would total approximately $21,390, nearly four times what the council has to distribute. Members repeatedly applied a Hadley-connection test, with one saying she had screened all 46 applications before the meeting and found only 15 with a direct tie to the town. Applications lacking a confirmed venue or date drew consistent nos across the group. Ten borderline applications were assigned to individual members for further research, with findings due at the December 10 meeting where final dollar amounts will be set.
