HADLEY — The Hadley Ambulance Oversight Committee voted 6 to 0 to conceptually back moving the town's emergency ambulance service from basic life support toward an eventually fully in-house advanced life support system. Member Molly Keegan abstained, saying she did not "have enough information" to support the shift given the town's finances after a recent $1.5 million override. Action Ambulance's Mike Warronka reported the town remains on pace to collect its full $150,000 rebate again this year, with collections running near 65 percent.
The fire chief said second-call ambulance volume already topped 100 calls by late June, levels normally not seen until winter. Officials also disclosed that a parent complained a medic recorded a call using AI-enabled glasses; the department is finalizing a no-recording policy expected by July 1. New Deputy Fire Chief Bob Flaherty, previously Hatfield's fire chief for six years, joined the meeting remotely.
The committee's next quarterly meeting is set for October 5.
