HADLEY — The Hadley Parks and Recreation Commission voted unanimously to keep its youth soccer program split between two leagues for the 2026-27 season. A staff member reported a survey of 57 families found 16 wanted to stay with the competitive Roots league, 10 preferred the no-cost Frontier league, and three were open to either; 31 did not respond. Grades one and two will stay with Frontier, which costs families $100 per child, while grades three through six remain with Roots, which costs $150 per child and requires the town to pay field fees of $1,800 to $2,500 plus $1,500 to $2,000 in uniform costs.
A newly introduced commission member, Karina, argued "the cost for Roots is astronomical compared to the Frontier, which is free," and proposed offering both leagues, but members said a single staff person could not manage two parallel programs. The commission also voted unanimously to elect commissioner Diane as chair.
