Planning Board Approves Route 9 Business Sign
Hadley Planning Board reviewed an expanded Smart Growth Corridor Overlay District map along Route 9 but took no vote on the zoning change.
Planning Board · Meeting of August 4, 2026
Hadley Planning Board reviewed an expanded Smart Growth Corridor Overlay District map along Route 9 but took no vote on the zoning change. Chair James Maksimoski and Clerk William Dwyer pushed to fully include the Home Depot, Lowe's and Stop & Shop parcels in the district rather than stopping at an earlier 150-foot depth line, while agreeing to hold the southern boundary at the Mill Valley Road bike path for now. The board earlier voted 5-0 by roll call to enter executive session over litigation in "ZP Battery DevCo LLC v.
Maksimoski et al.," tied to a pending battery storage application. In a separate 4-0 vote, with member Mark Dunn absent, the board approved a Route 9 business sign after owner Kelly Howard said a client "passed by the building three times" trying to find it. Consultant Ken, who said he chairs the Massachusetts APA chapter, presented Woburn's mall overlay district as a design model.
A joint session with the Smart Growth Steering Committee is targeted before September.
