CPA Committee · Meeting of August 24, 2026

Hadley's CPA Committee re-elected its officers and weighed a $700,000 housing subsidy request without voting. Shardul Parmar sought the money to offset construction costs for seven affordable apartments required in his family's approved 50-unit, over-55 building at 41 Russell Street. Committee member Sherry questioned whether the units would stay affordable if the property were sold, and Secretary Mark Dunn warned Parmar that town meeting voters "may say you're a developer" regardless of family ties.

The committee also heard requests for $40,000 to digitize cemetery records, $181,500 for multi-use paths on Middle and East streets, and $30,000 for an updated Open Space and Recreation Plan. Members voted 8-0 to reclaim $8,250 and $4,393 in unused grant balances. All four funding requests return for a vote September 14.
