Conservation · Meeting of August 11, 2026

Hadley Conservation Commission approved two minor construction projects and continued a stalled Russell Street hearing into a third month. Members unanimously cleared a roof addition at 74 Knightley Road for applicant Jim Fitzgibbon and a culvert replacement at 318 Russell Street meant to fix flooding near a veterinary building, after an engineer described an 8-inch PVC pipe set deeper than the failed original. A notice of intent for 347 Russell Street, file 170-303, was continued again after no applicant appeared, with one member asking, "How many times do you have to keep on continuing this?" Resident Susan Del Molino of 399 River Drive asked for a site visit before removing dead trees near a farm field, and commissioners agreed to meet her on site at 7:30 a.m. the next day.

The board also reported that 34 applicants applied for the vacant conservation agent and land use coordinator position, with six interviewed and two finalists returning for a final round.
