Meeting Monday, the five-member committee, Chair Amy Feiden and members Andy Kopacki, Peter Matusko, Pam Hague, and Paul McCretzky, reviewed financial data showing local receipts of approximately $864,000 year-to-date against roughly $960,000 at the same point last fiscal year, with Building Department permit fees identified as a likely contributor. Members also noted the town's free-cash balance of approximately $700,000 may be reduced to $500,000 pending confirmation of a possible calculation error. The committee canceled its December 15 meeting and will instead attend a multi-board session December 17 with the Select Board, Board of Assessors, and School Committee, where members expect to be asked whether the town should pursue another Proposition 2.5 override, which failed two-to-one earlier this year, or pursue deeper service cuts; members indicated they do not believe a second override attempt, without structural changes, is viable.
