Historical Commission · Meeting of April 13, 2026
Hadley's Historical Commission accepted a free roof for a town-owned schoolhouse and funded Revolution-era home markers. Members voted 5-0 to approve a donated standing-seam metal roof for the Hockenum Schoolhouse and its outhouse, offered free by Hadley resident Keith Rebheim, owner of U.S. Metal Roofing; the job was estimated at the meeting to cost roughly $40,000 otherwise. The commission also voted 5-0 to spend up to $300 on lawn signs marking 18 homes built before or during the Revolution, after Ellen Weinberg of the Hadley Historical Society pitched the plan.
A commission member said the Select Board was asked during public comment on April 1 to sell the former Russell School with historic-preservation restrictions, and a representative from AHF Boston is weighing whether to take on the project.
