Historical Commission · Meeting of August 17, 2026
Hadley's Historical Commission unanimously endorsed renovation plans for the former North Hadley fire station at 239 River Drive. Property owner Bermudez told the commission he wants to restore green-clad historic windows, preserve the cupola and eyebrow windows, and convert the 1864 building into five owner-occupied, two-bedroom units, saying "we don't want it to turn into a frat house or keep it dilapidated." Clerk Mary Carney and member Sharon Parsons confirmed the unanimous vote. The commission also reported plans for a general demolition-delay bylaw, to be presented to the Planning Board September 1, and detailed a September 25 Old Hadley Cemetery ceremony honoring Revolutionary War veteran Jeremiah Katie, coordinated with the Boston Tea Party Museum and the Sons and Daughters of the American Revolution.
