Climate Change Committee · Meeting of February 12, 2026
Hadley Climate Change Committee voted to drop a stalled contractor on a school insulation project. Members said Advanced Energy Group signed a contract last summer to insulate Hopkins Academy but "haven't done any work on the schools yet," prompting a unanimous vote to use the firm only to finish a scheduled air-sealing job before switching contractors. AEG quoted $25,771 for air sealing with an $18,000 incentive, versus roughly $288,000 from competitor CET for comparable work.
Separately, the committee's Solar Task Force said it will ask the Select Board next week to approve developer SunWealth for a landfill solar project members valued at roughly $4 million to the town over 20 to 25 years, requiring only a $500-to-$1,000 membership in a vetting nonprofit called PowerSource. A member also flagged an estimated $80 million cost to raise Hadley's flood levee along Bay Road.
