Climate Change Committee · Meeting of March 12, 2026

HADLEY — The Climate Change Committee discussed recycling spending and a Green Communities grant without taking any votes due to a lack of quorum. Members said the town's recycling account held $7,550, with about $5,000 available for projects, after last year's $3,000 purchase of two trash receptacles near the public safety baseball fields. On a separate state energy grant, members estimated roughly $97,000 remained after a contractor finished air sealing work, but expressed discomfort continuing with that contractor, AEG, for insulation and ventilation despite town contact Chris Desjardins' intent to keep using the firm.

The panel finalized plans for its sixth annual spring cleanup on April 25, with support from Solid Waste Solutions, police, fire and Tandem Bagel. One member said, "it's such a dilemma," describing the irony of buying recycled-plastic furniture to combat plastic waste. The next meeting is April 9.
