Select Board · Meeting of August 19, 2026

Hadley's Select Board and Finance Committee warned that delaying this year's override onto regular tax bills could mean a 26 percent single-quarter jump instead of a 13 percent increase split across two bills. Town Collector Susan walked both boards through the post-override tax-setting process, while Finance Committee member Paul Benjamin said "that's quite a huge amount" of the potential jump. Town Administrator Nate outlined roughly $7 million in capital requests heading toward the October 22 Fall Town Meeting, against a $23 million town budget, and flagged $9 million in already-authorized water tank debt.

The board voted unanimously to shrink the Bylaw Committee from 10 to 5 members after Chair Jim Maksimowski said it had lacked quorum for five months, accepted the resignations of Assistant Collector Kimberly Viper and an employee named Adam Warner, and then voted 4-0 by roll call to enter executive session over police chief contract negotiations.
