Hadley Select Board accepts finance director's retirement, appoints internal successor

Select Board · Meeting of July 29, 2026

Hadley Select Board unanimously retires Finance Director Linda Sanderson and promotes Dolores de Brindsay as her replacement. At the July 29 meeting, Chair Amy Parsons and the full five-member board accepted Sanderson's retirement effective the week of August 3, capping a municipal career that began in 1987 with the Finance Committee, continued through her 2015 election as town treasurer, and culminated in a combined Finance Director/Treasurer role she held for roughly two and a half years. The board read a formal proclamation citing more than three decades of service including five-plus years as a Hampshire County Commissioner.

De Brindsay, who joined the town four months after Sanderson 11 years ago and trained under her in the finance office, was appointed Town Treasurer effective July 30 on a unanimous vote moved by Member Molly Keegan and seconded by Member Jason Kostek. The board then entered executive session to negotiate a contract with the town's acting fire chief, with Chair Parsons declaring open discussion would harm the town's bargaining position.
